BACKGROUND:

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
The California Children’s Services (CCS) is a statewide program that arranges and pays for medical care, equipment and rehabilitation for eligible children and youth. Services can be authorized for children and young adults under 21 years of age who have eligible medical conditions. The County’s CCS Program employs the most qualified professionals to treat each child’s CCS-eligible condition ranging from congenital heart disease, sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, cleft palate, to HIV infections. The Department determined that adding a full-time Public Health Nurse will help address the increase in client-case management promoting and enhancing health practices and outcomes. The Public Health Nurse will have a primary role in servicing the clients with prevention and control of disease and adverse health conditions.

If this action is not approved, State funding will not be fully utilized based on program needs.
