RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21881 to add one (1) part-time (32/40) Public Health Program Specialist I position (VBSD) at salary level ZA5-1602 ($65,250-$79,311) in the Health Services Department. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action has an annual cost of approximately $107,424, which includes approximately $22,524 in pension costs. The costs will be funded by 100% State Lead Program Funds.

BACKGROUND:

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
The County’s Lead Prevention Program provides services for lead-poisoned children, including family education, case follow-up and environmental testing and care coordination. Under general direction, the Public Health Program Specialist I will plan, organize and administer the Lead Prevention Program within the Public Health Division of the Health Services Department. Coordinating education and outreach for health care providers, agencies, and community residents, the Public Health Program Specialist I will also monitor program activities and evaluate program effectiveness. One primary service of the Lead Prevention Program is providing information and referrals for parents, home remodelers and child care providers. The Department determined that adding a part-time (32/40) Public Health Program Specialist I position will better serve the current needs of the County’s Lead Prevention Program. This will also help the program’s operational efficiencies and fulfill its obligations under its funding source.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, State funding will not be fully utilized based on program needs.
