RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa County, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $291,584 to continue to provide long-term care ombudsman services to seniors for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017. (Federal: 100%)

FISCAL IMPACT:

$291,584.00: 100% Federal (Older Americans Act Title IIIB (CFDA# 93.044) and Title VIAA (CFDA# 93.042))

BACKGROUND:

Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa County, Inc. provides long-term care ombudsman services for adults including mediation and conciliation services, creation of Family Councils for support of families of long-term care residents, report investigations of physical abuse of all dependent adult and elder residents of long-term care facilities, education and training of seniors' rights, benefits, and entitlements. (40-009-48)

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Seniors in Contra Costa county will not receive the assistance of ombudsman services.
