RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21701 to increase the hours of Mental Health Clinical Specialist (VQSB) position #7944 at salary level QT2-1384 ($4,382.92- $5,082.84) from 32/40 to 40/40 in the Health Services Department, Detention Medical. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $19,578.71 with a pension increase of $6,950.44 which will be 100% funded by the General Fund.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Health Services Behavioral Health Division will not be able to best serve the mental health consumers and clients of the Martinez Detention Facility.

BACKGROUND:

Currently there is no Mental Health Clinical Specialist assigned to the graveyard shift at the Martinez Detention Facility to provide Mental Health services during the overnight hours. Unfortunately this leaves all the Martinez Detention Facilities Mental Health Intakes to wait until the day shift staff arrives. The Mental Health staffs at the Martinez Detention Facility starts their days overwhelmed and are never able to catch up.
