RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with the Contra Costa Community College District to pay the County an amount not to exceed $573,750 to provide educational courses at the Law Enforcement Training Center for the period July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No County costs. $573,750 revenue. The College District will pay the Office of the Sheriff $3.75 per student instructional hour that is eligible for state general apportionment less guest lecturer costs and standard student enrollment fees.

BACKGROUND:

The Contra Costa Community College District provides educational courses through its various programs to meet the needs of the Office of the Sheriff's Training Program. The Contra Costa Community College District will transcript all acceptable coursework for the Office of the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Training Center students.


CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Office of the Sheriff will not be able to transcript certain classes taken by students of the Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC). In addition, $3.75 per student instructional hour will not be claimable, resulting in a budget shortfall of $573,750 in the LETC Enterprise Fund for fiscal year 2022/23.
