RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE, the District Attorney, or designee, to apply for and accept grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Victims of Crime and Bureau of Justice Assistance for the amount of $700,000 to develop effective and sustainable multidisciplinary task forces that will implement victim-centered and coordinated approaches to identifying victims of sex and labor trafficking for a period of three (3) years from the date of the grant award.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive the amount of $700,000. This funding requires a 25% in-kind match, which will be met by the prosecution efforts shared by several Deputy District Attorneys. Additional program staff costs inclusive of two inspectors, a human trafficking coordinator, all training, and the majority of the administrative costs will be supported by the grant funding.
