RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #26-995-19 with George Lee, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $1,850,000, to provide anesthesia services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers, for the period from August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $1,850,000 over a 3 year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

Due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers relies on contracts to provide necessary specialty health services to its patients. CCRMC has contracted with Dr. Lee for pulmonology specialty services since 2002.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

On August 7, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-995-17 with George Lee, M.D., in an amount of $1,590,000 to provide anesthesia services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2021.

On September 10, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment Agreement #26-995-18 with George Lee, M.D. to increase the payment limit by $260,000 to a new payment limit of $1,850,000, with no change in the original term of August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2021.

Approval of Contract #26-995-19 will allow this contractor to continue to provide anesthesia services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through July 31, 2024.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring anesthesia services will not have access to this contractor’s services.
