RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Novation Contract #28–501–30 with Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District, a government agency, to pay County in an amount not to exceed $24,000, to provide congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, which includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The District will pay the County the voluntary contributions it receives from participating seniors, after it has paid its authorized expenses. The District funds these services and no County match is required.

BACKGROUND:

This contract meets the social needs of the County’s population by providing an average of 50 congregate meals per day, five days per week for senior citizens at the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District. The County has been contracting with Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District since July 1, 1990.

On June 2, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28–501–29 with the Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District to provide congregate meal services for the County’s Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2021.

Approval of Novation Contract #28–501–30 replaces the automatic extension under the prior contract and allows the County to continue providing services through June 30, 2022.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the County’s senior citizens who depend on the County’s Senior Nutrition Program will not receive meals at the contractor’s facility.
