RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a Purchase Order with Concordance Healthcare Solutions, LLC., in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the purchase of gloves for use in the COVID-19 pandemic at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period of June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in annual expenditures of up to $1,000,000 over a twelve month period and will be funded 100% by the Enterprise Fund I revenues.

BACKGROUND:

Health Services Department had requested funds for a different vendor for gloves earlier this year. A problem developed with the quality of the gloves and we were forced to return what we had ordered and get a refund.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
The Department turned to Concordance Healthcare Solutions, LLC. for gloves, and found their quality to be acceptable. Therefore, the Health Services Department needs to institute a Purchase Order for purchasing large quantities of gloves from this vendor.

Owing to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the very large numbers of patients being vaccinated the Health Services Department needs to have a high volume source for gloves.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved Health Services will find it very challenging to find gloves in sufficient quantities to protect staff and patients. Gloves are crucial for infection control.
