RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment Agreement #76-662-2 with Firstlocum, Inc. (dba Directshifts), a corporation, effective February 1, 2021, to amend Contract #76-662-1, to modify the rate schedule to include additional temporary medical specialty physician classifications and recruiting services with no increase in the payment limit of $1,400,000, and no change in the original term of August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this contract amendment will result in no additional annual expenditures and is funded as budgeted for FY 2020-2021 by 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues. (Additional rates)

BACKGROUND:

This contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing temporary locum tenens physician and other temporary medical staffing services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers to provide services during peak workloads, temporary absences and emergency situations. Contractor has been a temporary help firm services provider with the county since June 1, 2019.

On August 4, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-662-1, with FirstLocum, Inc. (dba Directshifts), in an amount not to exceed $1,400,000, for the provision of temporary locum tenens physician and other medical staffing services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #76-662-2 will modify the rate schedule to allow the contractor to include additional temporary medical specialty physician classifications and recruiting services at CCRMC with no increase in the payment limit of $1,400,000, and no change in the original term of August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, CCRMC will not have access to the additional services to be provided by this contractor during peak workloads, temporary absences and emergency situations.
