RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25756 to increase the hours of vacant Ambulatory Care Provider-Exempt (VPT1) position #7815 from 1/40 to 21/40 and decrease the hours of vacant Ambulatory Care Provider-Exempt (VPT1) position #11017 from 40/40 to 20/40 at salary plan and grade 1PX-1001 ($15,284 - $17,333) in the Health Services Department. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no cost associated with this action. (Cost neutral)

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of vacant Ambulatory Care Provider-Exempt position #7815 from 1/40 to 21/40 and decrease the hours of vacant Ambulatory Care Provider-Exempt position #11017 from 40/40 to 20/40 in the Public Health Division. Position #11017 is allocated to the California Children's Services Program (CCS) and the position primarily serves as the CCS Medical Consultant, which is a part-time position need. The incumbent will be responsible for determining medical eligibility for CCS clients, providing information on specialized medical program services available to medically high-risk children and their families, and acting as a medical expertise in the development of medical procedures and protocols for the delivery and coordination of CCS services. In addition, the incumbent will participate in the development and review of medically related regulations, policies and procedures, and other health care service standards. CCS caseload averages more than 4,000 active cases a month, processes more than 12,000 referrals, and manages transitions for participants aging out of the program at age 21.

This request is cost neutral considering that the 20 hours are being allocated to vacant position #7815, which the department will not be filling.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the California Children's Services Program will have positions with the inappropriate hour allocations that do not align with the services to be rendered to its clients.
