RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #23-226-15 with Boehm and Associates, a partnership, in an amount not to exceed $150,000 to provide consulting and technical assistance on workers’ compensation laws and third party liability recovery for the period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by third-party revenue from collection activities. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On July 24, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #23-226-14 with Boehm and Associates for the provision of consulting and technical assistance for workers’ compensation laws and recovery rights under personal injury law in third-party liability cases, for the period from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

Approval of Contract #23-226-15 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide consulting and technical assistance on workers’ compensation laws and recovery rights under personal injury law in third-party liability cases, through June 30, 2020.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the Department will not have access to Contractor’s expertise on workers’ compensation laws and recovery rights under personal injury law in third-party liability cases.
