RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to enter into a Community Based Prosecution Agreement with the City of Richmond to pay the County and amount not to exceed $200,000 for community prosecution program services for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The District Attorney will receive $200,000 of funding for the 2018/2019 fiscal year from the City of Richmond to support these community prosecution efforts.   


BACKGROUND:

The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has provided a Community Based Prosecutor to the City of Richmond for a number of years for a variety of purposes. The Community Based Prosecutor provides training, works with the Assistant City Attorney on nuisance abatement issues, reviews misdemeanor police reports, advises on criminal law issues and consults on legal issues related to ongoing criminal investigations.
