RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $160,000 to purchase reagents and supplies for the clinical laboratory at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC clinical laboratory uses Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. for reagents, various controls, methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) media and other supplies for chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology units.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the CCRMC clinical laboratory will not be able to perform the specific patient testing that utilizes these supplies, thus impacting patient safety and health.
