RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1,900,000 for clinical and pathology laboratory reagents, small equipment, Triage B-type Natriuretic Peptide, supplies and test kits for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers for the period May 1, 2018 through April 30, 2021.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funded within the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.
BACKGROUND:
These reagents, small equipment, Triage B-type Natriuretic Peptide, supplies, test kits, controls, etc. are used for patient’s specimen testing and are specific to the analyzer used for testing. Among the tests conducted are those for diabetes, kidney function, liver, hepatitis, iron deficiency, cardiovascular disease, cancer and many others. HBA1C (hemoglobin) testing has been added to seven off-site clinics to manage per the Joint Commission surveyor’s recommendation.
