RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Director, to execute a purchase order with Avella of Deer Valley, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the compounding of chemotherapy regimens for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) for the period May 1, 2018 through November 30, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is within the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

Avella of Deer Valley, Inc. is one of the only compounding pharmacies that can provide CCRMC and Health Centers' patients with certain compounded medications. Due to state and federal requirements already in place, Martinez Infusion Pharmacy will be going under construction to assure compliance with these regulatory requirements. For CCRMC to continue providing services to cancer patients during this construction work, Avella of Deer Valley, Inc., will expand chemotherapeutic preparations.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to properly care for its patient population.
