RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Department, a purchase order with Graybar Electric Company, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $150,000 for the purchase of telecommunication network tools, network cables, fiber cables, and miscellaneous telecommunication parts for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

Graybar Electric Company, Inc., provides the Health Services Department’s Information Technology Unit with telecommunication network products including network troubleshooting devices, network cables, fiber cables, power distribution units, and racks for servers. The equipment will be used to provide network connectivity for server, network switches and computer systems to all divisions in the Health Services Department, including Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, Mental Health, Public Health, and Administration divisions.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the purchase order is not approved, Health Services Department's outdated network and fiber cables will result in connectivity issues with the CCLink Electronic Health Record System. This could impact productivity in all Heath Services Department locations, including patient care at the hospital, health clinics, and key divisions.
