RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Department, a purchase order with Baxter Healthcare Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $160,000 for the purchase of intravenous (IV) and pharmaceutical drugs and supplies for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

Baxter Healthcare Corporation is a pharmaceutical company that provides the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers with medications and pharmaceutical products unavailable through the contracted wholesaler, Cardinal.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, we will not be able to take care of our patient population at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers.
