RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with JM Auto Painting, dba Precision Paint & Collision, in an amount not to exceed $500,000 to provide on-call automotive body damage repair services, for the period June 1, 2018 through May 31 2021, Countywide. (100% Fleet Internal Service Fund)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through Fleet Management’s Internal Service Fund and user departments. (100% Fleet Internal Service Fund)  

BACKGROUND:

Fleet Management maintains all county vehicles. Part of this maintenance is vehicle collision damage repair and painting. Various reasons exist for vehicle body repair and painting, from damage caused by collisions to deterioration. As the vehicles are becoming more complex, the costs for damage repair have risen. Originally solicited as sublet auto body repair, Precision Paint & Collision is the primary vendor awarded this type of work.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, automotive body damage repair services will be discontinued.
