RECOMMENDATION(S):

ACCEPT the resignation of Reid Edwards from the District II Alternate seat on the Sustainability Commission, DECLARE a vacancy in the District II Alternate seat on the Sustainability Commission, and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to post the vacancy, as recommended by the Conservation and Development Director.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

BACKGROUND:

On March 14, 2017, the Board of Supervisors appointed Reid Edwards to the District II Alternate seat on the County's Sustainability Commission. On May 7, 2018, Mr. Edwards notified the County Sustainability Coordinator that he is no longer able to serve on the Sustainability Commission. Consistent with the Sustainability Commission Bylaws, the Sustainability Coordinator shared this information with the Clerk of the Board and the Chair of the Sustainability Commission.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The term of the District II Alternate member expires on March 31, 2021. Consistent with the Sustainability Commission Bylaws, "A vacancy during the term of any member will be filled by the Board of Supervisors for the remainder of the then-current term."

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to fill the vacancy limits the ability of the Sustainability Coordinator to fulfill its purpose.
