RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute Contract #26-323-28 with CareerStaff, Unlimited, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $125,000, for the provision of temporary medical staffing services, at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Health Centers and Detention Facility, for the period from May 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.  
  

This contract does not include classifications represented by Teamsters, Local 856.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)




BACKGROUND:

On March 7, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-323-27 with CareerStaff, Unlimited, Inc. for the provision of occupational, physical and speech therapists, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, medical social workers, ultrasound technologists and other ancillary classifications through April 30, 2017.  
  
Approval of this contract will allow the Health Services Department to continue to provide temporary staffing services at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Health Centers and Detention Facility for medical staff through December 30, 2017, and which will not include classifications represented by Teamsters Local 856.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Health Centers and Detention Facility will not be able to provide necessary services to its patients and the Contractor will not be able to provide services through December 31, 2017.
