RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Extension Agreement #26-579-5, with Mt. Diablo Unified School District, an educational institution, to extend Contract #26-579-3 (as amended by Contract Extension Agreement #26-579-4), the termination date from July 31, 2017 to June 30, 2019.

BACKGROUND:

On April 24, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-579-3, (as amended by Contract Extension Agreement #26-579-4) with Mt. Diablo Unified School District for the provision of providing supervised field instruction experience to provide various health care disciplines with Contra Costa Health Services, for the period from August 31, 2015 through July 31, 2017.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Approval of Contract Extension Agreement #26-579-5 will allow the Contractor to continue supervised fieldwork instruction experience for Contractor’s students, at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, through June 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this extension is not approved, Contractor’s students will not receive certified medical assistant and surgical technician supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
