RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Personnel Adjustment Resolution No. 22083 to cancel one Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III (6DTB) (represented) vacant position number 3329 at a salary plan and grade VHX 1965 ($7,997 - $10,206) and add one (1) Criminalist III (6DTA) (represented) position at salary plan and grade VN5 1922 ($7,990 - $9,955) to the Office of the Sheriff's Department Forensics Division – Support Services Bureau.

FISCAL IMPACT:

An annual savings of $82,933 to the Office of the Sheriff General Fund and $64,453 savings to retirement cost
.

BACKGROUND:

This vacancy is due to the recent retirement of a Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III. The Forensics Division would like to fill this position with a non-sworn Criminalist III, at a cost savings to the department.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this change in position classification will impede the ability of the Forensics Division to fill this vacancy in a cost effective and timely manner. This directly affects staff workload, which negatively affects the time sensitive processing of evidence.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
