RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-140-1 with East Bay Audiologists, a professional corporation, effective June 1, 2016, to amend Contract #26-140, to increase the payment limit by $56,000 from $936,000 to a new payment limit of $992,000, with no change in the original term of September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On August 18, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-140 with East Bay Audiologists, a professional corporation, for the provision of audiology services, including hearing evaluations, hearing aid evaluations, fitting, dispensing and procurement of hearing aids and supplies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2017. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-140-1 will allow the Contractor to provide additional audiological services through August 31, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring audiology services will not have access to Contractor’s services.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
