RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #27-589-9 with Night Owl Pediatrics, Inc. (dba Early Bird), a corporation, effective May 1, 2016 to amend Contract #27-589-8 to increase the payment limit by $150,000 from $850,000, to a new payment limit of $1,000,000 with no change in the original term of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan Enterprise Fund II. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On June 9, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-589-8 with Night Owl Pediatrics, Inc. (dba Early Bird), for the provision of urgent care services, for the period from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #27-589-9 will allow the Contractor to provide additional pediatric primary care services through June 30, 2017.


CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
