RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent or designee to execute, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, a purchase order with International Business Machines Corporation in an amount not to exceed $275,000 for maintenance and support of County mainframe computer software for the period July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017, under the IBM Agreement for Licensed Programs between County and IBM.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of $275,000 is budgeted under Org# 1060, Fiscal Year 2016/17 and charged out to user departments via DoIT's monthly billing process.
BACKGROUND:
The County, on behalf of the Department of Information Technology (DoIT), licenses mainframe computer software from IBM, and receives support and maintenance for the software under the Acquisition for IBM Licensed Programs, and IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for annual renewal of support. IBM invoices DoIT on a monthly basis depending on the level of support used by DoIT. The Chief Information Officer needs authority to make payment for mainframe software support under the agreements in order to pay for support provided by IBM.
