RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Public Works Director, a purchase order with Syar Industries, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $500,000 for road maintenance materials for the period from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019, Countywide.  

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Local Road Funds.  

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Road Maintenance maintains over 670 miles of roads in Contra Costa County. To do so requires large quantities of asphalt. As bid on BidSync No. 1403-071, Syar Industries, Inc. has been awarded as a backup vendor for this commodity. The initial term of this bid is one year, with four (4) possible one-year extensions. This request is for the final three one year extensions.  



CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this request is not approved, road maintenance materials will not be procured through Syar Industries, Inc..
