RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Public Works Director, a purchase order with Nixon-Egli Equipment Co., in an amount not to exceed $300,000 for the rental of paving equipment for road maintenance activities, for the period from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019, Countywide.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Local Road Funds.

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Road Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the County’s roads. Some of the equipment necessary to conduct this maintenance is not cost-effective to purchase or own. Renting paving equipment during the peak road chipping seasons has proved to be a valid strategy in saving costs. As bid on BidSync No. 1403-062 and 1403-072, Nixon-Egli Equipment Co. was the lowest priced, responsible and responsive vendor. This commodity is to be awarded for an initial two-year term, with three (3) possible one-year extensions. This request is for the final three year extensions.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this request is not approved, the rental of paving equipment will not be rented through Nixon-Egli Equipment Co..
