RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Carefusion Inc., in the amount of $127,465 for the purchase of medication delivery equipment for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and the Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from May 1, 2016 through November 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC and the Contra Costa Health Centers do not have an adequate inventory of medication delivery equipment due to obsolescence. Equipment must be rented from a third party to meet the needs of the patient population. Carefusion Inc. provides medication equipment that will interface with the pharmacy’s medication monitoring system. Purchasing the medication delivery equipment is more cost-efficient than renting the equipment. This purchase will enable the CCRMC and the Contra Costa Health Centers to greatly reduce or eliminate the need to rent the required equipment to supplement the current inventory.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC and the Contra Costa Health Centers will be required to continue renting medication delivery equipment to supplement its inventory to meet the needs of the patient population.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
