RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Employment and Human Services Department, to execute a purchase order with R-Computer, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $123,911, to procure computer hardware required to implement an intake and interview booth; client review and touch screen signature program for Social Services Benefit applications for the period of June 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016. (10% County; 45% State; 45% Federal)

FISCAL IMPACT:

$123,911: 100% County Venture Capital Funds

BACKGROUND:

New computer monitors (198 monitors) are needed to implement the intake and interview booth; client review and touch screen signature program for Social Services Benefit applications, including CalFresh, Calwin and Compass. The computer monitors will speed up the current review and signature process, will eliminate hard copy paper needs, and will allow workers to process more applications per day. The computer tablets will also provide better privacy of personal information over standard display monitors.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Employment and Human Services Department will not be able to implement the intake and interview booth; client review and touch screen signature program for Social Services Benefit applications.
