RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Philips Healthcare Inc., in the amount of $136,388.71 for the purchase of ventilators at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from May 1, 2016 through November 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget

BACKGROUND:

CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have ventilators that are no longer supported by the manufacturer which requires the rental of equipment from a 3rd party vendor. Philips Healthcare provides the most versatile and reliable ventilator to improve patient care and treatment of respiratory afflictions. This will enable CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers to greatly reduce or eliminate the need to rent the required equipment to treat our patient population.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase is not approved, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers will be required to continue renting the equipment to treat respiratory patients, because the hospitals ventilators are no longer supported.
