RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Blanket Purchase Order with Medline Industries, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $27,000,000 for medical equipment and supplies of all types for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers from June 27, 2016 through June 26, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

The main distributor of medical products for CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Clinics has been Professional Hospital Supply (PHS) for many years. PHS has been purchased by Medline Industries, Inc. It is now necessary to execute a new Blanket Purchase Order with Medline so that the purchasing of medical products and equipment for CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Clinics can continue unabated.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Clinics will be unable to purchase many of the crucial medical items needed for patient care.
