Adopt Resolution No. 2016/390 recognizing June 1 - June 7, 2016 as National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Awareness Week, and June 2016 as National CPR / AED Awareness Month.

BACKGROUND:

June 1-June 7, 2016 is “National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Awareness Week”, and June 2016 is National CPR / AED Awareness Month. This resolution will encourage all residents of Contra Costa County to learn critical lifesaving skills such as CPR and how to use an AED, as well as encourage communities to become HeartSafe Communities and businesses and other organizations to register their AED(s), mark them “public” - identify AED Responders and agree to respond to victims of sudden cardiac arrests in locations near them. Make your community HeartSafe by taking a CPR class. Check http://cchealth.org/ems/heartsafe.php for a class near you.
