RECOMMENDATION(S):

Employment and Human Services (0503)/Plant Acquisition (0111): APPROVE FY 2015/16 Appropriation Adjustment No. 5076 in the amount of $938,000 to transfer appropriations from EHSD - Aging & Adult Services to the Public Works Department for four capital projects, as recommended by the Employment and Human Services Director.

FISCAL IMPACT:

EHSD County Aid appropriations will be reduced by $938,000 and transfer to Public Works for Capital Projects. This consists of 100% County revenue and no additional County general fund costs will result from these adjustments.

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department has identified the need to upgrade the HVAC units at 40 Douglas Drive for an estimated cost of $260,000. In addition, a remodel of the bathrooms at 40 Douglas Drive is also moving forward with an estimated cost of $114,000. Public Works has also identified projects at two other locations. At 1305 Macdonald Ave in Richmond the parking lot is in need of repair for an estimated cost of $250,000. At 1650 Cavallo Rd in Antioch the modular buildings are in need of replacement (due to mold issues and general disrepair). The estimated cost to replace the existing modular units with one larger modular unit is $314,000.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Appropriations will not be properly allocated.
