RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #72-030-5 with Discharge Resource Group, doing business as DRG Health Care Staffing, a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $190,000 to provide temporary occupational and physical therapy services for the County’s California Children Services (CCS) Program for the period from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 50% State California Children’s Services and 50% County funds. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The CCS Program provides state-mandated medically necessary therapy services to children, as prescribed by their physicians. This Contract will provide temporary physical and occupational therapists to fill staff vacancies during peak loads, temporary absences and emergency situations. On July 7, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #72-030-4 with Discharge Resource Group, d/b/a DRG Health Care Staffing, for the period from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 for the provision of occupational and physical therapy services for the County’s California Children Services Program. Approval of Contract #72-030-5 will allow Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, state-mandated medically necessary therapy services to children, as prescribed by their physicians, will not be provided.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Children Ready For and Succeeding in School”; “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS).
