RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Vali Cooper & Associates, Inc. (Vali Cooper), in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00 for construction management services for the Camino Tassajara Shoulder Widening Project, for the period of May 24, 2016 through the project closeout, San Ramon area. County Project No. 0662-6R4072 / Federal Project No. HSIPL-5928 (110)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This project, including this Consulting Services Agreement, is funded by 46.2% Highway Safety Improvement Funds and 53.8% South County Area of Benefit Funds.

BACKGROUND:

This project will consist of pavement widening, drainage improvements, relocating roadside obstacles and installing curve advisory solar flashing beacons approaching the s-curve from both sides. The project is located on Camino Tassajara approximately 1.1 miles south of Highland Road to 0.3 mile north of Windemere Parkway.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Vali Cooper was selected to provide construction management services for the project after completing a request for qualifications solicitation, technical proposal, and interview process. Public Works has successfully negotiated with Vali Cooper to provide the construction management services.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without Board of Supervisors’ approval, this Consulting Services Agreement will not be in effect. A delay in the construction of the Camino Tassajara Shoulder Widening Project will occur, ultimately delaying the completion of the project. Project delay may also result in substantial additional project costs and jeopardize the funding.
