RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-552-6 with Bailey T. Lee, M.D., a self-employed individual, effective May 1, 2016, to amend Contract #26-552-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreements #26-552-4 and #26-552-5), to increase the payment limit by $28,000, from $500,000 to a new payment limit of $528,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On August 6, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-552-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreements #26-552-4 and #26-552-5) with Bailey T. Lee, M.D., for the provision of radiology services including consultation, on-call coverage, supervision and interpretation of CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, invasive procedures, and plain films at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization; however, the utilization was higher than originally anticipated. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-552-6 will allow the Contractor to provide additional hours of radiology services at CCRMC through June 30, 2016.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring radiology services will not have access to Contractor’s services.
