RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to Purchase Order #34412 with Med One Capital Funding, LLC, to add $215,000 for a new total of $2,125,432 for the use of Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets throughout Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers with no change in the original term of September 24, 2010 through October 31, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Tis amendment is100% funded by, and is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has used Omnicell since 2005 in the Hospital Emergency Department and other selected clinics. These Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) interface with CCRMC pharmacy information system. We are leasing Omnicell equipment through Med One Capital Funding. CCRMC has been satisfied with this company as its vendor for the past 10 years and wish to continue CCRMC's our working relationship with this company. Omnicell has helped CCRMC reach its Medication Safety and Patient Safety goals that were set for the patient population, and has brought CCRMC into regulatory compliance. The request for additional funds is to cover sales tax that was not calculated in the original total.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, there will be a lack of a safe and effective medication storage and distribution system which could result in unsafe medication practices, potential costly regulatory citations, or patient harm.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
