RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to Purchase Order #51960 with Med One Capital Funding, LLC, to add $38,000 for a new total of $476,316 for Omnicell Pharmacy Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS) at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and the Contra Costa Health Centers with no change in the original term of February 1, 2014 through February 1, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is 100% funded by, and included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers have been using Omnicell medication dispensing cabinets for the past 10 years. The current dispensing cabinets were upgraded to extend the full value of the asset for another 5-plus years and to bring the cabinets up to date to meet current and future needs. The lease includes upgrading 24 medication dispensing cabinets, 24 touch pads, 16 medication label printers, software services and interface support for the term of the lease. In addition, the upgraded cabinets contain many features including, compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (TJC) national patient safety goals on medication labeling, through integrated patient specific medication label printers, and syringe labeling, and enhanced security features. The request for additional funds is to cover sales tax that was not calculated in the original total.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the current cabinets will reach their end of life and will no longer be supported by the vendor. This could impact the CCRMC in providing patient care and the enhanced security of the medications.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
