RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to Purchase Order #43426 with Med One Capital Funding, LLC, to add $24,000 for a new total of $288,350 to retain the use of Omnicell Unit for use by the Pharmacy Department at the West County Health Center, with no change in original term of June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is 100% funded by, and included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

The West County Health Center requires safe and effective medication storage and distribution systems to comply with strict rules and regulations by different regulating bodies. Pharmacy staffing shortage requires centralization of personnel. In order to keep the clinic operational, Omnicell is a necessity. The request for additional funds is to cover sales tax that was not calculated in the original total.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, there will be a lack of a safe and effective medication storage and distribution system at the West County Health Center, which will result in unsafe medication practices, potential costly regulatory citations, or patient harm.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
