RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment No.5071 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $555,000 for the purchase of two Type III wildland engines and reallocating existing revenue for the purchase of specialty rescue equipment and firefighting equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action increases revenue and appropriations by $555,000.

BACKGROUND:

The District recently received a larger than anticipated end of year distribution from the redevelopment property tax trust funds. This request would authorize recognizing that surplus amount in the current fiscal year (2014-15) and appropriating it towards the purchase of two (2) Type III wildland engines.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Additionally, this request would authorize reallocating existing revenue from some building maintenance projects to the purchase of capital specialty rescue equipment (hurst tools) and non-capital firefighting equipment (high rise hose and equipment, wildland gear, ladders, swiftwater rescue gear, etc.).

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Appropriations will not be authorized for the purchase of two Type III engines, specialty rescue equipment, and firefighting equipment.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
