RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-748-3 with Mauricio Kuri, M.D., Inc., a self-employed individual, effective June 1, 2015, to amend Contract #26-748-1 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-748-2), to increase the payment limit by $34,000 from $370,000 to a new payment limit of $404,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On May 13, 2014, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-748-1 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-748-2) with Mauricio Kuri, M.D., for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, for the provision of plastic surgery services including consultation, training, on-call services and medical and/or surgical procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC). At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-748-3 will allow the Contractor to provide additional surgical procedures and on-call services at CCRMC, through June 30, 2015.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring plastic surgery services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not Applicable.
