RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Hill-Rom Company Inc., in the amount of $190,795.08 to purchase replacement Versacare hospital beds for all units at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period May 1, 2015 through April 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Hill-Rom Company Inc. supplies all beds, gurneys and stretchers for the CCRMC. All Versacare beds were purchased when the new hospital opened, and are now obsolete and cannot be repaired. All beds, gurneys and stretchers are standardized to the products that Hill-Rom Company Inc. provides.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, we will not have Versacare beds to replace the ones that are currently in the hospital that cannot be repaired if/when they break, and we will not be able to provide the best of care for our patient population at the CCRMC.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
