Adopt Resolution No. 2015/188 recognizing June 1 - June 7, 2015 as National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Awareness Week, and June 2015 as National CPR / AED Awareness Month.

BACKGROUND:

June 1-June 7, 2015 is “National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Awareness Week”, and the June 2015 is National CPR / AED Awareness Month. This resolution will encourage all residents of Contra Costa County to learn critical lifesaving skills such as CPR and how to use an AED, as well as encourage communities to become HeartSafe Communities and businesses and other organizations to register their AED(s), mark them “public” - identify AED Responders and agree to respond to victims of sudden cardiac arrests in locations near them. Make your community HeartSafe by taking a CPR class. Check heart.org for a class near you.
