RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-875-26 with Paul H. Kwok, D.O., a self-employed individual, effective June 1, 2015, to amend Contract #26-875-24, (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-875-25) to modify the payment provisions to reflect additional anesthesiology clinics and services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC) with no change in payment limit of $1,410,000, or the original term of October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On October 15, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-875-24 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-875-25) with Paul H. Kwok, D.O. for the provision of anesthesiology services at CCRMC, for the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016. The County requested, and the Contractor agreed to provide additional anesthesiology services including high risk pre-op clinics. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-875-26 will allow the Contractor to provide additional anesthesiology services at CCRMC through September 30, 2016.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring anesthesiology services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
