RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-789-1 with Hugo E. Altamirano, M.D., Inc., a corporation, effective June 1, 2015, to amend Contract #26-789, to increase the payment limit by $75,000, from $400,000 to a new payment limit of $475,000, with no change in the original term of January 19, 2015 through January 31, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On February 3, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-789 with Hugo E. Altamirano, M.D., Inc. for the provision of anesthesiology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from January 19, 2015 through January 31, 2016. County requested, and the Contractor agreed, to provide additional anesthesiology services, including out-of-operating room anesthesia services and preoperative anesthesia clinics. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-789-1 will allow the Contractor to provide additional anesthesiology clinic services through January 31, 2016.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring anesthesiology services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the levels of service to the community.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
