RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE a lease with C.A. Lauritzen LLC (dba Lauritzen Yacht Harbor) for a five-year term beginning September 1, 2014 and ending August 31, 2019, for use of approximately 1,540 square feet of warehouse space located at 60B Lauritzen Lane, Oakley, by the Sheriff-Coroner, under the terms and conditions set forth in the lease. (WLP861)

AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the lease on behalf of the County, and to exercise any options to extend the lease term.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Sheriff-Coroner requires secured warehouse space at this location to store its marine patrol equipment used in the Sheriff's patrol of the County's waterways. The lease will obligate the County to pay rent of approximately $73,560 over the five-year term. The first year's rent was anticipated and budgeted in the Sheriff-Coroner's approved 2014/15 budget.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Not authorizing the lease for the Sheriff-Coroner's occupancy of the warehouse space would require the Sheriff-Coroner to not have secured storage at this convenient location adjacent to its Marine Patrol office, and require finding another location at additional expense.
