RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-792-1 with Edward Tang, M.D., a sole proprietor, effective March 1, 2015, to amend Contract #26-792 to modify the payment provisions to include a consult fee and to correct Resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS) Surgical rate, with no change in the payment limit or the original term of March 1, 2015 through February 29, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On March 10, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-792 with Edward Tang, M.D. for the provision of orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period from March 1, 2015 through February 29, 2016. Due to a mutual mistake the consultant fee was not included and Resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS) Surgical fee was incorrect. Therefore, the Division and the Contractor request the provisions be added and the rate (RBRVS) be corrected from 80% to 85% as was intended. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-792-1 will allow the Contractor to provide surgical consultations when requested by Hospitalist or Emergency Department staff and be paid the correct RBRVS rate for surgeries, through February 29, 2016.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, Contractor will not be paid for surgical consultations and the correct RBRVS rate for surgical procedures at CCRMC.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
