RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #74-592-4 with Jennifer Lee Miles, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $319,488 to provide outpatient psychiatric care services to children and adolescents for the period from April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this contract will result in budgeted expenditures of up to $319,488 and will be funded by 50% Federal Medi-Cal ($159,744) and 50% Mental Health Realignment Funds ($159,744).

BACKGROUND:

This contract meets the social needs of the County’s population by providing mental health services to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems to improve school performance and reduce unsafe behavioral practices. The County on behalf of its Behavioral Health Division has been contracting with Jennifer Lee Miles, M.D. since April 1, 2019 for her expertise in providing outpatient psychiatric care to children and adolescents.

On March 23, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-592-3 with Jennifer Lee Miles, M.D, in an amount of $319,488 to provide outpatient psychiatric services to children and adolescents, for the period from April 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022.  
  
Approval of Contract #74-592-4 will allow this contractor to continue providing psychiatric services through March 31, 2023.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the County’s clients will not have access to this contractor’s psychiatric care services.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This Contract supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS).
