RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #27-204-12 with Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, A Medical Group (dba Comprehensive Psychiatric Services), a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $600,000, to provide psychiatric services for Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) members and County recipients, for the period from June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $600,000 over a three-year period and will be funded 100% by CCHP Enterprise Fund II revenues.

BACKGROUND:

CCHP has an obligation to provide certain psychiatric services including, but not limited to: outpatient psychotherapy and medication management according to the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. This contractor has been a part of the CCHP Provider Network providing these services since September 1996.

On March 31, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-204-10 with Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, A Medical Group, in an amount not to exceed $250,000, for the provision of psychiatric services for CCHP commercial members only, for the period June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2022.

On June 8, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment #27-204-11, effective June 1, 2021, to increase the payment limit from $250,000 to a new payment limit of $375,000, for additional psychiatry services, and for the addition of Medi-Cal members and with no change in the original term through May 31, 2022.

Approval of Contract #27-204-12 will allow the contractor to continue providing psychiatric services for CCHP members and County recipients through May 31, 2025.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain psychiatric services for CCHP members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contract with the County will not be provided.
